This 20 credit module introduces the interdisciplinary interests of the Liberal Arts through the examination of York, as a city, from a variety of perspectives. With a central focus on York – its culture, literature, history and geography – the module also provides a fulsome introduction to the city and the University’s place within it. Using York as the subject matter, each session will offer an induction into the various subjects that make up the Liberal Arts. In preparing and responding to set reading you will also begin to build a familiarity with the University’s research resources and a cursory understanding of how to respond to existing criticism.
