This module introduces students to studying at Master's level by considering a range of critical approaches that can be applied to education.  Incorporating critical reflection into their own development and learning, it aims to build students' capacity for sustained criticality through the review of contemporary, published, academic writing and the acquisition of critical writing skills. The module will afford students opportunities to critically analyse their own values, ideologies and practice and thus develop their critical reflection skills, alongside critical reading, critical writing and critical thinking.  Students will either create a reflective artefact or keep a reflective journal.  These will provide a foundation for applying knowledge in an original and creative way.  A variety of critical lenses will be introduced to students, and they will be able to employ these in critically analysing a variety of issues in education at global, national and local levels.
