PSY7004M-2021-22-T2-A PSY7004M | Adolescent Development | 2021-22 T2 (Group A)
Welcome!
This is the Moodle page for PSY7004M Adolescent Development.
What will we cover in this module?
This module will focus on several aspects of adolescent development. In the first four seminars, we will examine cognitive and biological aspects or 'core processes' of development. The subsequent seminars will build on this knowledge and cover a range of issues related to social, emotional and physical changes experienced in adolescence.
What can I find on this Moodle page?
Here you will find weekly information on how to prepare for each seminar as there will be a range of activities to undertake each week. You will also find copies of the slides from each seminar, links to useful information, assessment details and other information that may be useful throughout the module.
What is the assessment for this module?
For this module, you will submit a recording of an oral presentation wherein you critically evaluate and explain any aspect of the biopsychological development during adolescence to a lay audience (e.g., adolescents, teachers, youth workers). You will also submit a funding proposal for a project (either research or intervention related) that addresses a contemporary issue in adolescent development.
Okay, so how will the module seminars run?
Each week (schedule below) will consist of (1) approximately one hour of taught material, (2) a student-led discussion around an issue related to the week's topic (this will involve either reading research articles, listening to podcasts or reading other assigned materials in preparation for the discussion, and (3) group PowerPoint presentations on an assigned topic/empirical paper.
