It is important for student teachers to develop their awareness of how both they and children engage in education. Student teachers will explore the core pedagogical knowledge, skills and understanding of the primary school teacher and the professional knowledge and attributes required within the teaching profession.

The module is focused on the themes of:

·         professionalism and early teacher identity;

·         management of the learning environment, with behaviour as a central component;

·         understanding theories of learning;

·         planning for and assessing pupil progress;

·         meeting the needs of all pupils:  

·         safeguarding.
