This module is compulsory on the three-year Japanese and Korean programmes and optional on other programmes in the School of Languages and Linguistics. Students will carry out and reflect on 10 days of work experience, as arranged by themselves, either while abroad or when back in the UK. 5 days of work experience must be in a graduate level role, the other 5 days may be in any chosen role. A taught session is provided during level 4, and tutorial support is offered during the year abroad. In exceptional circumstances, students may be granted an exemption from the work experience but still complete the portfolio with an adjusted focus.
