This module is a platform for students to practice and apply their developing graphic design skills to construct a portfolio of design work that articulates creative and technical competences and their own developing ‘voice’ in a variety of graphic design contexts. Design investigations may be focussed in the private or public sectors and take the form of client design briefs, competition briefs (D&AD, Design Directions RSA), or self-generated ones providing the student with the opportunity to address various design issues. The module also offers the opportunity for students to experiment with a range of digital tools in real and virtual scenarios, allowing for the interchange between 2D and 3D to produce new outputs.

 

This module aims to:

• Enable students to continue researching their specialism developing increased knowledge and understanding of the subject through focused negotiated research projects
• Undertake a series of design projects in the form of tutor led projects, competitions and client projects
• Develop personal confidence addressing and presenting conclusions to set design problems
• Increase their awareness of specialist design practice so that they can compare and contrast their developing position with that of professional designers.
• Create new creative articulations
